DICOM Imaging Workflow Showcase

Study Intake, Viewer Review, Routing, and Traceability

Imaging interoperability workflow for study intake, metadata validation, viewer review, routing, access governance, and traceability.

Decision spotlight

The hard product problem is not building a better image viewer. It is connecting intake, metadata quality, review, and routing so imaging handoffs stay traceable end-to-end.

Product tradeoff: Workflow consistency vs. local operational variation — imaging handoffs across intake, review, and routing need one shared source of truth.

What this demonstrates

Product insight

Imaging products become more valuable when viewer review is connected to intake, metadata validation, routing, access governance, and traceability instead of existing as a standalone image viewer.

Product notes

How I think about this

Product problem

Imaging workflows often span study intake, DICOM metadata quality, viewer review, reporting status, destination routing, release readiness, and access decisions. The product challenge is to make those handoffs visible and actionable without exposing private clinical data.

User / system workflow

The demo starts on a role-aware imaging operations dashboard, then moves through study intake, metadata validation, synthetic viewer review, routing and destination queues, access governance, traceability, and configuration. Imaging Coordinator, Radiologist, and Records Admin views expose different priorities, worklists, and actions.

My product lens

The demo is framed as a recreated imaging interoperability workflow: synthetic studies, DICOM-style metadata, viewer/report review controls, routing states, access decisions, traceability events, and configurable workflow rules.

Why it matters

This work demonstrates how clinical imaging products can connect technical interoperability details with operational workflows, helping teams move from study receipt to review, routing, sharing, and resolution.

What I would improve next

Add richer modality-specific workflow rules; expand prior-study comparison behavior; add deeper report lifecycle states; add destination-level delivery summaries; add more granular traceability filters; add configurable release-readiness checklists.
