Decision spotlight

The hard product problem is not adding more record views. It is making one clinical record system feel native to both a physician moving fast and a records admin managing access and governance.

Product tradeoff: Workflow consistency vs. role-based variation — physicians and records admins need the same system to feel built for each of them.

What this demonstrates

Product insight

Clinical records products should help physicians and records teams move from patient search to lab, imaging, sharing, and access decisions without losing clinical context or governance visibility.

Product notes

How I think about this

Product problem

Clinical teams often review records, lab results, imaging reports, sharing requests, and permission constraints across fragmented systems. The product challenge is to make this workflow fast, clinically readable, and governed without turning it into an overly technical interoperability console.

User / system workflow

The demo starts on a role-aware dashboard with RAG indicators, then moves into patient search, patient record review, lab detail, imaging detail, sharing/access workflows, and admin configuration. Physician, records admin, and system admin modes expose different worklists and actions.

My product lens

The demo is framed as a recreated physician-facing clinical records portal: patient search, record timeline, FHIR-aligned lab review, imaging report review, access/sharing queues, role-based permissions, and configurable dashboards using synthetic data.

Why it matters

This work demonstrates how interoperability-heavy healthcare workflows can be translated into usable clinical product surfaces where physicians can review results and administrators can manage access without exposing raw system complexity.

What I would improve next

Deeper longitudinal clinical timeline views; expanded role-based permission inheritance scenarios; richer audit-friendly access history; more advanced lab trend visualization; cross-organization sharing and consent states; configurable dashboard templates by specialty.
